The Masjid of Katara
Katara Masjid is one of the most beautiful Masjids in Qatar. Designed by a Turkish mosque designer. The interiors of the Masjid of Katara were designed by a team of restoration specialists from Dolma Palace in Istanbul. The mosque features an outer surface garnished with turquoise and purple mosaic, and a wonderful interior design that adds even more glamour.
The interior and exterior architectural designs, together with the minaret, the dome, and the prayer niche (mihrab) are all inspired by several famous mosques found in various cities and capitals of the Muslim world. In addition to these notable aspects, the masjid abounds with artistic handicrafts, such as ornaments, inscriptions, and rich mosaic tiles.
The Golden Masjid
The Golden Masjid is beautifully garnished with extremely small golden chips which represents the Ottoman rich patterned style.
Katara offers, in masjids, several religious programs and a series of religious lectures delivered by a group of prominent and esteemed religious scholars.
Katara also organizes advanced courses in Quran memorization that are widely attended by a considerable number of children from different age groups. Such courses bear significance because they instill the virtuous values and the good manners of the Holy Quran.
The Amphitheater… The Gem of the Cultural Village
The Katara Amphitheatre is a crafted balance between the classical Greek theatre concept and the everlasting Islamic features. It stands firm in the heart of Katara, under the clear blue sky, overlooking the radiant blue sea.
This landmark, pays tribute to the great tradition of the unique architectural style associated with amphitheaters and is set to host some of the most spectacular world-class events in Doha.
Katara Amphitheatre was opened in 2011 with a spectacular concert especially created by legendary Vangelis and featuring world-renowned stars like Angela Gheorghiou, Roberto Alagna and Jeremy Irons.
Drama Theatre
Inspired by the traditional building architecture of Doha, the main stage of the indoor Drama Theatre triggers the feeling of an open air experience. It is designed to host a wide range of events and film screenings. With an independent entrance and annex hall, this theatre hosts receptions and functions before and after the performances.
The Opera House
The Katara Opera House is the only facility of its kind in Qatar and is the home to the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. The Opera House has rapidly transformed itself to become a preferred hub for some of the world’s leading artists and musicians. Its uniquely sophisticated architectural model blends modern architecture and traditional Islamic design.
Katara Hall
Frequent art exhibitions of established and emerging artists from around the Gulf region and the world Katara have been hosted at Katara numerous halls and galleries through various conferences, seminars, symposiums, exhibitions and art exhibitions.
Al Gannas
Al Gannas (Hunting Association Headquarter) houses the cultural association for hunters, founded in 2008. This building is dedicated to promoting traditional Arabic hunting, and to providing support for organizing hunting events and festivals. The association makes use of the best facilities and equipment required for hunting and encourages research and studies in the field.
